Puyi Scrubber Successively Receives International Order

After getting scrubber order for bulk carrier from Hong Kong owner, recently Weihai Puyi received another order for several container vessels from Thailand owner, which not only shows more and more owners are likely to install scrubber to comply with IMO emission restrictions, but also manifests their confidence in Puyi scrubber.

At the international shipping exhibition-Posidonia on Jun. 5th, 2018, IMO secretary-general Kitack Lim reiterated that enforcement date of sulfur restriction would not be delayed and it would be Jan. 1st, 2020. This means there’ll be only one and a half years left and at that time no ship can use fuel with SOx content more than 0.5% unless it installs scrubber on board. 

With international crude oil price goes high continuously, the price difference between heavy fuel oil and low-sulfur oil becomes bigger and bigger. At present, the cost of marine heavy fuel oil generally used by shipping companies is USD420/t while the cost of low-sulfur oil is USD630/t. According to estimation of Japan shipping tycoon - Mitsui OSK Lines CEO - Junichiro Ikeda, the new restriction will make fuel cost increase USD300/t. Now, to scrubber, owners have changed their hesitation to actual application and the equipment demand is increasing.

According to IMO emission restrictions, although there’re several compliance methods, scrubber is no doubt the most economic choice. Though there’re many scrubber manufacturers in the world now, the “Matthew Effect” is apparent. According to some information, because the two famous Europe and America scrubber manufacturers received too many orders, it has led to price-raising and delivery delay. Resently, China Weihai Puyi has been negotiating with owners of domestic and abroad intensively and obtained many orders.
